Crash Between Bus, Vehicle Kills 1 In Antioch

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A man was killed Thursday morning when the force of a collision with a Tri Delta Transit bus ejected him from his car in Antioch, police said.

Officers responded at about 5:45 a.m. to a report of a collision at Davison Drive and Burwood Way, police said.

The bus was traveling east on Davison when a car traveling north on Burwood pulled in front of it and the vehicles collided, Tri Delta Transit CEO Jeanne Krieg said.

The man in the car was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Krieg said six passengers were aboard the bus when the collision occurred and four of them requested transport to a hospital. Police characterized their injuries as minor.

Police said the bus driver remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with the police investigation.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated and police said they do not yet know whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to call Antioch police at (925) 779-6900 or to submit a tip anonymously by texting CRIMES (274637) using the key word "Antioch."
