Woman's Body, Animal Remains Found Burned In Converted Squaw Valley Barn

SQUAW VALLEY (CBS/AP) — A charred woman's body and burned animal remains were found in a barn that burned in Central California over the weekend.

The Fresno Bee reports that Fresno County Sheriff's spokesman Tony Botti said Sunday the body and remains were discovered shortly after midnight Sunday in Squaw Valley, a small town about 30 miles east of Fresno. The town is not the location of Squaw Valley Ski Resort.

The dead woman has not been identified. The barn had been converted to a living space. The woman believed to have lived in the barn was heard inside Saturday night.

The newspaper reports multiple explosions were heard as the fire started. A light-colored SUV is believed to have stopped to assist at the outset of the fire. It left before firefighters arrived. Investigators would like to speak to the people in SUV.
