Glacier Point Road Opens For Season In Yosemite National Park
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS/AP) -- A popular vista point for visitors to Yosemite National Park is opening for the season, allowing views of the park's iconic landscape.
Rangers say that on Saturday they're opening Glacier Point Road, which takes drivers to a lookout perched at 3,214 feet above the valley floor. From Glacier Point, visitors can also view Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and Yosemite's high country.
Rangers urge drivers on Glacier Point Road to travel slowly so they don't hit or kill any wildlife.
They say that the park's Tioga Road remains closed for now. The popular east-west passage takes drivers across the Sierra Nevada mountains.
