'Mrs. Doubtfire' Bank Robber Sought After Santa Cruz Heist

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- A man who police are calling the 'Mrs. Doubtfire Robber' is being sought after robbing a bank in Santa Cruz and being seen casing another bank in the city, while dressed in drag.

Santa Cruz Police said officers responded to report of a bank robbery on the 100 block of Morrissey Blvd. at around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Officers responded and found the suspect had fled with an undisclosed amount of cash after using a note to demand money from a teller, police said. No weapon was seen.

About an hour earlier, the same suspect was seen in another bank on the 3000 block of Mission Dr. in the county, acting suspicious and appearing to possibly be casing the bank, according to bank employees.

The employees were surprised to see that although the suspect was dressed like a female, the suspect was actually a male, police said.

Santa Cruz Police urged anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact them, saying the surveillance photos obtained are "great" and "somebody in the community has to recognize this person."
