San Francisco’s The Bold Italic, an online publication based on delivering local news and personal stories about life in the Bay Area, announced today that they will be ceasing operations.

Since its launch, the site championed local opinions on a variety of topics — both popular and not — and was a keenly-curated showcase of the creative minds and spirited writers and illustrators living in San Francisco and the Bay at large.

The company, which was owned by Gannett Co. Inc., will reportedly close shop soon.

The statement posted to their website was short.

“We have a great passion for the Bay Area and all that it has to offer — and have had a lot of fun sharing our enthusiasm with you,” it read. “However, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations. It’s been a great run and we supremely thank everyone who has supported us along the way.”
