Suspected Sex Offender Who Escaped From San Jose Arrested In Mississippi
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- An escaped inmate from the Santa Clara County Jail was arrested in Mississippi after a month on the run.
U.S. Marshals arrested accused sex offender Johnell Carter Tuesday.
Police say Carter overpowered a sheriff's deputy during a hospital visit at Valley Medical Center in San Jose on March 6th.
After Carter's escape, motorcyclists took it upon themselves to guard the girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted.
Carter has been charged with five counts of child molestation. It is unclear when Carter would be extradited to California.
