SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) – The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting on Wednesday morning.

“The suspect was armed with a knife and the knife was recovered at the scene,” said Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Deputy Chief David Pitts. The suspect was transferred to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the suspect’s name.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave.
