Bryan Stow Takes Big Step Forward In Recovery, Throws Out First Pitch At San Jose Giants Game
SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) – Four years after being brutally attacked, San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow made a big step forward in his recovery by throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a San Jose Giants minor league game Thursday night.
Stow was greeted by a standing ovation at Municipal Stadium and the baseball he threw was brought in by a sheriff's helicopter.
With his children Tabitha and Tyler by his side, Stow threw the first pitch.
Afterwards, KPIX 5's Sharon Chin asked him what keeps him going. "Just wanting to live," Stow said. "My two kids, my son Tyler he's 16, my daughter Tabby, she's 12, and just them in my life, I just want to be a better person."
Stow and his family watched the game in VIP seats at the stadium. The 46-year-old paramedic suffered traumatic brain injury in the attack at the 2011 season opener at Dodger Stadium. He still takes dozens of pills every day and goes through intense rehab.
Thursday night was the fulfillment of a promise to Stow's kids, that their dad would throw the first pitch at the San Jose Giants game when he came out of his coma. Next Thursday, Stow said he will go see the San Francisco Giants face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
