Man Arrested For Placing Hidden Camera In Walnut Creek Starbucks Restroom
WALNUT CREEK (KPIX 5) – A man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of hiding a camera at a Starbucks in the East Bay. Authorities said he could have hidden cameras at multiple establishments.
The first incident happened on February 6th, when a Starbucks employee noticed a camera mounted underneath the unisex bathroom sink at the store on Locust Street in Walnut Creek.
Authorities said the camera was a Flip Video Mino HD. It's about the size of an iPod and depending on the model, it holds between an hour and two hours of video.
The camera was handed over to Walnut Creek Police. With the help of surveillance video, they closed in on a suspect, 34-year-old Jacob Turner.
Detectives told KPIX 5 that they were planning on serving a search warrant on Turner this week. On Tuesday, a diligent barista found an identical camera in the same location, under the sink in the bathroom.
Turner was arrested at his home Thursday afternoon.
Walnut Creek detectives are reaching out to other agencies because they found evidence in Turner's home, they said, links him to other locations.
