PACIFICA (CBS SF) — Graffiti bearing the name of a Bay Area motorcycle gang was found on a dead whale rotting on a Pacifica beach Monday.

The calling card of the East Bay Rats Motorcycle Club was spray-painted on the carcass, tucked against a cove at Mori Point.  The whale has been decomposing on the beach for over a week.

“I think it’s incredibly sad and unfortunate that someone would take that opportunity to defile nature,” Savina Hong told KPIX 5.

Hong had brought her kids to check out the circle of life on the beach, but instead found the violated carcass.

“It’s awful.  I think it’s bad enough what happened to the poor whale.  Why did they have to go and make it worse?” Hong said.

The graffiti wasn’t the only damage done to the carcass.  Chunks of whale blubber left behind from the necropsy had been set on fire.
