Driver Dead After San Francisco-Bound Amtrak Train Hits Car On Tracks

ELKO, Nev. (AP) -- Passengers on an Amtrak train from Chicago to San Francisco were delayed after an a car pulled onto the tracks resulting in a collision that killed the car's driver.

Elko County Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Fisher said that the crash was intentional. The driver's identity has not been released.

The California Zephyr was headed west toward Elko around 2:30 a.m. when it struck the car outside of Wells. No train passengers or crew were injured.
