Family Screams 'Murderer' Outside Court At Man Accused Of Running Over Livermore Mom, Baby

PLEASANTON (CBS SF) -- Furious relatives and friends of a mother and child killed in a suspected drunk driving crash in Livermore Saturday confronted the suspect outside of Pleasanton Superior Court Tuesday.

Prosecutors delayed filing charges against the suspect Brian Jones after asking for more time to investigate the case.

Jones didn't want to say anything before court, and his attorney spoke for him. "He's extremely sorry for what happened," attorney Ernie Castillo said.

While Castillo extended apologies, friends and family of the victims sounded off.

"You're a stupid drunk," one woman screamed. "You don't have a conscience."

Police said Jones was driving drunk when he crashed into a Livermore apartment building, killing Esperanza Morales and her 14-month-old daughter Yulidia Morales Saturday while they were at a family backyard barbecue.

On Tuesday, the crowd followed Jones into the parking lot, reminding him of the pain he allegedly caused.

"You are a murderer, killer, you don't deserve to be breathing!" one person yelled.

After he was driven past signs that read "guilty" and "justice," friends voiced frustration no charges have been brought yet and Jones is still a free man.

"What kind of proof do they need?" said Dalilia Hall, Morales' friend. "Do they need more bodies? It's not fair. It's not justice."

Jones will be back in court May 28.The victims' family and friends vowed they would be there, too.
