Police Activity - Not Earthquakes - Blamed For East Bay BART Trains Delays

LAFAYETTE (CBS SF) - Police activity at the Lafayette BART station caused major delays for trains Wednesday morning, an agency dispatcher said.

BART trains were already delayed earlier in the morning by an obstruction on the tracks between the Walnut Creek and Lafayette stations.

There was some confusion among riders about the cause of the delays. One passenger called the KPIX newsroom to say that the delays were a precaution following a series of earthquakes in the Concord area this morning.

The obstruction has since been removed, the dispatcher said.

Just before 8 a.m. police cleared the Lafayette station at 3601 Deer Hill Road. But delays of about half an hour continued in the Pittsburg/Bay Point and San Francisco directions.
