San Carlos Resident Interrupts Attempted Burglary

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- A San Carlos resident interrupted an attempted residential burglary after investigating strange noises coming from the back of his home on Friday morning.

At 10:07 a.m. Friday San Carlos patrol deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service in the 1300 block of Rosewood Avenue.

After hearing strange noises coming from a window, the resident went to investigate. He found a suspect attempting to remove the window screen, according to deputies.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and was last seen running in the 1500 block of Howard Avenue. A witness on Howard reported seeing the suspect climb into a black Mitsubishi Gallant and flee east, deputies said.

The suspect is described is a black man, estimated to be 25 to 30 years old, standing 6 feet tall with a "fit build." He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt over a white t-shirt, black shorts and dark shoes, according to deputies.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact the San Carlos Patrol Bureau of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office at (650) 802-4268.
