PG&E Toppled By Sonoma Clean Power As Top Energy Supplier In County

SONOMA COUNTY (KCBS)— PG&E has been toppled from its throne as the dominant energy supplier in Sonoma County.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that the one-year-old Sonoma Clean Power agency is rolling out service to three more cities on Monday including; Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Cloverdale.

This means Sonoma Clean Power now serves as the electricity supplier for about 90 percent of Sonoma County's customers. The other 10 percent are still served by PG&E.

About one-third of the power Sonoma Clean Power supplies to customers is renewable energy, mostly from solar and geothermal projects.

The Press Democrat reports Sonoma Clean Power customers are saving between 6 and 9 percent on their energy bills compared to PG&E.
