Weekend Magazine: LGBTQ Film Fest, Breathe, And The Wolfpack

Liz Saint John interviews three guests every Sunday morning covering a variety of issues and topics. She talks with representatives from Bay Area non-profit organizations, documentary filmmakers, authors, and professors.

1. Frameline 39: The San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival is June 18th through 28th in the city and in Berkeley and Oakland.  Desiree Buford, Director of Programming, talks about opening night, the centerpiece film, closing night, and explains how they choose the films each year and how filmmakers can submit to get into next year's festival. 2. Breathe California has been working to reduce the impact of lung disease through prevention, education, advocacy and patient services for more than 100 years!  Breathe California works on a number of issues and diseases, including asthma, tobacco use, emphysema, lung cancer, air pollution and tuberculosis. Breathe California works in Sacramento to help shape policy and pass legislation supporting cleaner air and stronger restrictions on tobacco products. Alex Elliot is with Breathe California. 3. The Wolfpack filmmaker Crystal Moselle noticed a group of 6 young men walking down the street…they looked a little different for some reason…she struck up a conversation with them despite the fact that the young men didn't think it was OK to talk with strangers…Did their parents lock them in for most of their lives?
