SAN MATEO (CBS SF) — A 45-year-old motorcyclist from Mountain View has died after a collision in San Mateo Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The first report of the collision came in at 4:10 p.m. on northbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of East Hillsdale Boulevard, according to the CHP.
A preliminary report by the CHP said the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on a 2004 Suzuki when a 2006 Honda, also traveling northbound, struck the Suzuki on its left side.
CHP officials said the motorcyclist lost control of the Suzuki, was ejected from the cycle and came to rest on an East Hillsdale Boulevard offramp.
Paramedics took the motorcyclist to Stanford Hospital with major injuries and emergency room staff pronounced him dead, according to the CHP.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be involved in the collision.
CHP officials are asking witnesses to call Officer Adam Petty at (650) 369-6261.
