Woman Struck And Killed By Recycling Truck In San Carlos

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- A woman was killed Friday morning in San Carlos when she was struck by a Recology recycling truck, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said Friday evening.

The woman was on foot when she was struck by the eastbound truck on Holly Street at El Camino Real just before 11:30 a.m., officials said.

She suffered major injuries and died at the scene.

The collision closed one southbound lane of El Camino Real and all lanes of Holly Street between El Camino Real and Laurel Street for around four hours.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators.

A spokesman for Recology today said in a statement that the company responded immediately to assist and is cooperating fully with investigators.

"Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family members of the pedestrian and anyone else affected by this tragic accident," the statement said.
