Charitable Contributions Make Marathons Worth The Pain

KPIX 5 Morning Weather Anchor Roberta Gonzales answers the questions you never get to ask on-air.

Q: Hey Roberta! What is your next race? Brian Williams - Pleasanton

A; Hi Brian! Thanks for asking! I have the San Francisco Marathon coming up and it's all for charity!

On Sunday, July 26, I will be running gin the San Francisco Half and Full Marathon. This time it's for another really cool charity, "Team Generation Alive," which is the brainchild of San Francisco Giants Jeremy Affeldt and Larisa Affeldt. The goal, to move a generation to act! No couch potatoes, no being locked up in a room playing video games.  Using programs focused on hunger relief, anti-human trafficking and leadership development, "Team Generation Alive" empowers young people with a platform to be culture changers. Generation Alive is creating a generation of young leaders who will play an integral role in elevating the quality of life in their communities— supporting those in a position of great need and making a lasting impact.

I have never worked with a charity such as this. I am filled with inspiration  from the voices of young people who want to make a difference in their community. "Team Generation Alive" consists of energy packed young people, and matches them with an organization or the personal "cause" they are passionate about and want to provide service.

If you would like to find out more information about "Team Generation Alive" here is their website: www.GenerationAlive. Meanwhile, I gotta lace up my shoes and head out on a training run!
