3-Car Bay Bridge Crash, Car Fire Causes Major Delays

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Traffic on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge is at a crawl Wednesday morning due to an injury crash involving at least three vehicles.

The California Highway Patrol reports the westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 80 on the Bay Bridge near Treasure Island has been cleared.

Three westbound lanes of the bridge were closed for about an hour shortly after the crash was reported at 5:34 a.m.

The extent of the passenger injuries were not immediately reported.

CHP estimates it will now take at least 25 minutes to travel from the foot of the MacArthur Maze to Highway 101/280 in San Francisco.

KPIX Traffic Anchor Gianna Franco suggests using the San Mateo, Richmond or Golden Gate bridges as an alternate route -- or bet yet, BART.

A car fire was also reported around the same time near the toll plaza, adding to further delays.

It's not yet known if there were injuries reported in this crash.
