Knife-Wielding Man In Apparent Roommate Dispute Shot By Fremont Police

FREMONT (CBS SF) – A man was shot by police in Fremont after an apparent dispute with two women Monday evening.

According to authorities, said the incident occurred on the 4700 block of Baffin Avenue.

Police said they received a call from a woman who said she and another woman were being chased by her roommate, who had a knife. The women ran out of the house, while the man stayed on the porch.

When police arrived, officers confronted the man. Police said the man refused to put down the knife and two officers opened fire.

A neighbor told KPIX 5 that he was in his house when he heard three loud noises outside and the sound of cars speeding away.

"I thought to call one of my neighbors up and he said there were some kids came out and he said some guy came out with a knife," said Michael Gonzales. "The cops told him to put it down, but I guess they ended up shooting him."

The man's condition was not known as of late Monday night.
