Is Apple Really Planning An iCar? Latest Hires Have Long History With Automobiles

CUPERTINO (KCBS) - Apple continues to make employee moves indicating a an electric car from the company could be on the way one day.

The Wall Street Journal says the latest roster additions at Apple include the former global quality chief at Fiat Chrysler, and also a leading autonomous-vehicle researcher in Europe.

This comes as Apple and Tesla have been busy poaching employees from each other, Apple to build a car, and Tesla to refine its interior and entertainment experience.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed that Apple was offering $250,000 bonuses to Tesla workers, while also saying that Tesla has recruited five times as many employees from Apple compared to Apple poaching form Tesla over the past year.

Amid the competition have been rumors that Apple could elect to simply buy Tesla at some point. With some analysts projecting that as a possibility in the next year.
