Oakland Shelter Over Capacity, Needs Help Fostering Dogs

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Oakland Animal Services needs help.

The shelter has reached 200% capacity and needs to find foster homes for its dogs.

Foster families are asked to take dogs home for a month. In turn, the shelter will provide them with food, toys, treats and a doggy bed.

To encourage adoptions, the shelter has waived all fees for the month of July.

Oakland Animal Services has seen an unusual influx of dogs recently. Board member Nicole Perelman told East Bay Express it may be due to a surge in local evictions.
