Rip Currents Caused By Swell Prompts Warning For Beachgoers

POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE (CBS SF) -- The National Weather Service is warning beachgoers of hazardous conditions such as rip currents along south facing beaches in Marin and Santa Cruz counties.

The warning was issued Wednesday due to a southwesterly swell bringing increased chances of rip currents and large shore break at areas including Point Reyes National Seashore and northern Monterey Bay.

Stinson Beach, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Beach, and Twin Lakes were forecast to be impacted by the swell.

Beachgoers should exercise caution.  The warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening.
