CBS News Crew Almost Trapped By Rocky Fire

LAKE COUNTY (CBS SF) -- A CBS news crew had a close call on the front lines of the Rocky Fire.

The wildfire was growing so fast reporter Carter Evans and his photographer had difficulty outrunning it.

They had to stay put for 2 hours with a Cal Fire crew.

"At this point, we're in a safe zone, there's no vegetation to burn around us," said Evans. "The best place for us to be is inside the car."

Even inside the safe zone, Evans said the flames were only about 100 yards away.
