Lyft Offers Music-Themed Vans For Outside Lands; Announces Cap On Surge Pricing

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Ride-hailing service Lyft is getting into the spirit of the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco outfitting a number of vans into music-mobiles to transport festival goer back and forth.

Lyft is one of the corporate partners of the event and Thursday it showed off 10 specially-designed vans to help shuttle the estimated 200,000 people who will descend on Golden Gate Park this weekend.

Each van has a different music theme, such as summer of love, California surf, EDM, boy bands, and others outfitted as a recording studio and karaoke bar.

Lyft also announced it would place a 200% cap on prime time pricing, referencing the surge pricing at Outside Lands last year by rival Uber, where rides in some cases cost well over the price of a three-day ticket to the festival.
