Concord Pharmacist Nearly Bites Off Finger Of Man Trying To Steal Drugs

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A pharmacist in Concord fought back by biting when a man entered the business and demanded drugs.

The pharmacist bit down repeatedly on the man's finger after he demanded the drugs.  After the pharmacist bit the suspect, the man dropped the pills he had stolen and fled the store.

Police are looking for a suspect with a severely injured finger, and they say the robbery may be part of a larger and troubling trend of desperate drug addicts trying to get their fix.

"This is not just in Concord, this is in other areas, you're starting to see a lot of these suspects going into these pharmacies and try to get prescription medications.  Sounds like they're getting desperate, and they're going in, and they're doing ridiculous things to get the medication," Concord Police Corporal Christopher Blakely said.
