Sgt. Enrique Garcia of the San Jose Police Department said the man was among three people suspected in a homicide last Thursday on Lundy Avenue. He had an outstanding felony warrant for homicide and planned to kill a woman on Monday, police said.

According to Garcia, the suspect and the woman were in a car when officers followed them. The suspect led police in a chase and crashed the vehicle. Police said the suspect ran off and left the woman behind.

Police followed the man as he ran towards a home. The man was fatally shot by an officer when he reached for his waistband.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

Monday’s incident took place less than 24 hours after officers fatally shot a man on the 3100 block of Senter Road Sunday night. Garcia said the man killed by police in Sunday’s shooting was also a suspect in last week’s homicide. Police are seeking a third man in the case and are asking the suspect to turn himself in.

Garcia said surveillance video showed the three suspects terrorizing the victim before he was fatally shot on the 1800 block of Lundy Avenue around 1:00 a.m. last Thursday.

According to Garcia, the victim of the homicide has been identified as 38-year-old Christopher Maxwell Wrenn.

Monday’s shooting was the fourth officer-involved shooting in San Jose over the past last nine days.

On August 9th, two San Jose officers fatally shot a man suspected in a stabbing. Last Monday, officers shot a man who barricaded himself inside his home and threatened to harm himself with a gun. The man was found dead hours later of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
