Jerusalem, Tesla Wildfires Nearing Full Containment

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters battling 2 large wildland blazes in the greater Bay Area are getting some help from mild temperatures and Cal Fire reported that both fires are getting close to being fully contained.

The Jerusalem Fire in Lake and Napa counties is 25,118 acres and 98 percent contained, according to information released by Cal Fire on Saturday.

So far, the fire has destroyed six residences and 21 outbuildings. All evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

Three hundred and eighty-two firefighters, 13 fire engines, seven fire crews, a helicopter, 12 bulldozers and nine water tenders have been dispatched to help battle the blaze since it started on Aug. 9.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Tesla Fire east of Livermore was estimated at 2,700 acres and 85 percent containment Saturday morning, according to Cal Fire.

The incident was reported at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Tesla and Corral Hollow Roads, between Tracy and Livermore in unincorporated Alameda County.

At this point in the operation crews are mopping up, putting out hot spots and securing the fire's perimeter, according to Cal Fire.

Control of the incident is transitioning back to local fire crews Saturday morning, and officials hope to have the incident fully contained by Monday.

No injuries have been reported, although an abandoned outbuilding was destroyed.

Over 11,000 firefighters are battling 16 active wildfires across California.
