Indecent Exposure Suspect Armed With Baseball Bat Leads Police On 22-Mile Chase

BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of indecent exposure fled from officers trying to question him in a Brentwood parking lot Wednesday morning, leading police on a 22-mile pursuit that ended in San Joaquin County.

Around 9:55 a.m. Wednesday police were dispatched to a Walgreens parking lot located at 4520 Balfour Rd., to investigate a man believed to have exposed himself in a previous incident.

George Davis, a 59-year-old resident of Bethel Island in unincorporated Contra Costa County, was found seated in a Ford Ranger. Police said Davis was not cooperating with their investigation and refused to exit the vehicle for further questioning.

At some point Davis fled the scene, nearly striking an officer on the way out of the parking lot, according to police.

Davis led police on a 22-mile pursuit that ended on state Highway 4 near Stockton. When he got out of his vehicle he was armed with a baseball bat, but Davis surrendered peacefully several minutes later, police said.

When searching his vehicles, officers allegedly found a loaded gun, but police said Davis did not brandish it.

Davis was arrested on suspicion of evading a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer using his vehicle, possession of a loaded weapon and assault with a baseball bat, according to police.

Davis was also positively identified as the suspect from the indecent exposure incident officers were originally dispatched to investigate, police said.
