SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) — Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson is heading to San Francisco to discuss why he believes he should win the Republican nomination.

The soft-spoken Carson is emerging in polls as a top-tier candidate in the Republican presidential field. But that rise is being eclipsed by the headline-grabbing Donald Trump.
