Mayor Ed Lee Pledges To Veto Rolling Stop Legislation For San Francisco Bicyclists

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco Mayor has pledged to veto any legislation allowing bicyclists to roll through stop signs on city streets.

Lee held a press conference explaining his stance on the issue Monday, saying that the relaxed rules could be disastrous.

"To have a roll through stop practice adopted locally, and have as many people come through our city as we do is to invite potential disaster and certainly minimally confusion for walkers, drivers and for bicyclists," Lee said Monday.

Supervisor John Avalos introduced legislation that would make citations for bicyclists who safely yield at stop signs the lowest law enforcement priority.
