(CBS SF) — Rumors over the passing of musical legend Carlos Santana spread like wildfire Wednesday morning, but were quickly dismissed as pure hoax.

Commotion began on Twitter after Canadian Broadcasting Corporation journalist Chris Walker tweeted reports of Santana’s death on Wednesday. He deleted those tweets after discovering the reports were false.

“Tips were about another person named Carlos Santana, if you can believe that,” Walker tweeted after posting that Santa is “very much alive.”

Santana’s staff quickly addressed the hoax on the Bay Area musician’s official Facebook page.

“From Team Santana: Carlos is alive and well and enjoying his morning! Thank you all for your concern, but the reports of his passing are false.”
