President Obama Arrives In SF For Democratic Party Fundraisers Including Kanye West Concert

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- President Barack Obama arrived at San Francisco International Airport Friday evening for fundraising events including a Saturday concert with rapper Kanye West, according to White House officials.

Obama touched down at SFO at 8:35 p.m. and was greeted by Governor Jerry Brown and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, according to the White House press office.

The president was scheduled to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraising event Friday evening, and then, on Saturday, he will speak at San Francisco's Warfield Theater at a fundraising concert featuring Kanye West.

The fundraiser will support the Democratic Hope Fund, a joint fundraising committee authorized by Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee.

It comes six years after Obama called West, the American rapper and songwriter, "a jackass" during a 2009 pre-recording of a television interview.

Obama made the remark in reference to West's behavior at a music awards show, in which he interrupted Taylor Swift as she accepted an award for best female music video. West stopped her to say that singer, Beyonce, who didn't win the award, had one of the best music videos of all time.

Tickets for the San Francisco concert start at $250 and go as high as $10,000, according to the Democratic National Committee.
