Muni Driver Fights With Hostile Passenger In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A Muni driver had to fight off a hostile passenger in the city's Dogpatch neighborhood in an incident that was caught on camera.

A passenger recorded video of another passenger dragging the driver off the train before the two exchange punches.

The incident happened on the T-Line.  Other passengers ended up breaking up the fight.

"There was a mechanical issue with the train, and he got orders to bring it back into the yard for repairs.  At that time he did ask the patrons to off board the vehicle, and at that point this individual appeared not to have like that, and spat on the operator, and pulled him out of the train, and then the video starts," Muni Spokesperson Paul Rose said.

It appears in the video that the driver was acting in self-defense.

The driver took a few days off work, but it was unclear if he had returned to the job yet.
