Hercules Man Charged With Stealing Tools, Bikes, Cameras From Neighbors' Garages

HERCULES (CBS SF) -- Video surveillance pictures led detectives to a man suspected of stealing tools, sporting goods and other items from his neighbors' garages.

Matthew Guadagne was charged with seven counts of first degree burglary after he was arrested Saturday.

Police said they recognized Gadagne in surveillance footage of a man taking power tools and other items from a victim's garage and putting the stolen in the trunk of a parked Audi.

Officers served a search warrant at the 21-year-old's Hercules home and found many of the items stolen from garages in the same area.

Guadagne is suspected in five similar burglaries in the 'Promenade' residential neighborhood. Police said the suspect targeted homes with open or unlocked garages.

Some of the stolen property has been identified and recovered.

Gaudagne was taken to the Martinez facility and bail has been set at $350,000.
