SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Super powers, role models and success dominated the conversation when Melissa Benoist and co-star Mehcad Brooks (who plays Jimmy Olsen) sat down and talked to KPIX 5’s Frank Mallicoat.
The two are part of the season’s biggest hit, Supergirl that premiered just a week ago and are riding a wave of euphoria after the show’s rave reviews.
Seems every little girl wants to be Supergirl, now. Even GOP Presidential hopeful Jeb Bush confessed he thinks she’s hot.
Frank asked the former Glee star what it’s like to become a role model overnight.
“I think of it as such an honor,” said Melissa. It’s more than a responsibility — it’s a joy and a privilege. I couldn’t be happier.”
Supergirl’s superpowers are almost to numerous to list. You don’t want to mess with her. She’s made of steel, has super strength, freeze breath, speed. And how many roles are there in Hollywood where you get to fly?
“I almost don’t recognize myself when I see the action sequences put together. It’s a pretty surreal feeling,” she said.
Melissa and Mehcad are amazed that Supergirl is the number one new show after just a week. Mechad likens it to winning the Super Bowl.
“It’s lightning in a bottle, and we just hope you guys continue to love it,” he said.
“I can speak on behalf of everyone, it was a shot in the arm of good vibes, after all our hard work,” adds Melissa.
Be sure to check out these two, along with co-stars Calista Flockhart and Jeremy Jordan on Supergirl — tonight, and every Monday on CBS.
