Bumgarner, Crawford, Posey Win Silver Slugger Awards

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS-SF) – The San Francisco Giants dominated Thursday's National League Silver Slugger awards with catcher Buster Posey, pitching ace Madison Bumgarner and shortstop Brandon Crawford all being given the prestigious hitting award for their positions.

For Posey, it was his third straight award while Bumgarner won for a second consecutive season and Crawford was given the award for the first time in his five-year career.

Already rewarded with his first Gold Glove for his defensive ability,  Crawford enjoyed a breakout season at the plate in 2015.  He hit 21 homers, drove in 84 runs and had an on-base percentage of  .321. Those totals easily eclipsed his 2014 offensive output of  10 homers and 69 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Posey continued his run as the best hitting catcher in Major League Baseball. He hit .318 with 19 homers, 95 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .379 for the 2015 season.

Unlike most of his contemporaries, Bumgarner takes hitting very seriously and has become anything but an easy out.

In 2015, Bumgarner hit 5 home runs, a pair of doubles and drove in nine runs. He hit a respectable .247 with an on-base percentage of .275 and a slugging percentage of .468.

For his career, he has 11 homers and 40 RBIs.

Last season, Bumgarner became just the ninth pitcher since 1961 to accumulate 250 PA and hold a hit at least .200 with  an on-base percentage of at least .250, and a slugging percentage of at least .330.

On the mound, Bumgarner was equally as dominating rolling to an 18-9 record with an ERA of 2.93.
