Oakland Ceasefire Raids Net 18 Arrests

OAKLAND (CBS-SF) – Under the cover of pre-dawn darkness, police and federal agents launched a series of Bay Area warrant sweeps early Tuesday that culminated in 18 arrests and the seizure of seven weapons, authorities said.

Oakland police said 14 warrants were served in locations in Antioch, Dublin, Sacramento, San Lorenzo, Stockton and Tracy.

Included were warrants for a Sept. 2015 double homicide and various shooting, robbery and weapons charges.

The sweeps – conducted by the Oakland Police Department Ceasefire Team and 14 Bay Area law enforcement agencies -- were the culmination of a law enforcement operation that began in October.

To date, 30 wanted felons have been arrested during the operation and 25 guns have been recovered.

The Sacramento Sheriff's offices and the East County Tactical Operations Team (Pleasanton and Livermore) also participated in the raids along with agents from the U.S. Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and Oakland Housing Authority.
