NASA Accepting Applications For Astronauts

MOFFETT FIELD (CBS SF) -- NASA is looking for its next class of astronauts.

The space agency announced it is now accepting applications for astronauts for missions including the one to Mars.

Applicants must be United States citizens, and have a bachelor's degree in science, math, or engineering.

"This next group of American space explorers will inspire the Mars generation to reach for new heights, and help us realize the goal of putting boot prints on the Red Planet," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said.

Applicants selected could make as much as $144,000 per year.
