FBI Offers Reward In Arson Attack On Tracy Mosque
TRACY (CBS SF) -- The FBI has offered a reward for information leading to those responsible for an attempted arson and possible hate crime at a Tracy mosque in December.
During the early morning hours of December 26, someone threw a Molotov cocktail at the door of the Tracy Islamic Center. Later that morning, the president of the mosque's board found the remains of the explosive device. It had shattered and flames appeared to have scorched the door, with damage estimated at about $1,000.
The FBI announced in a press release it was offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the individuals involved in the crime.
San Joaquin County sheriff's officials have not determined whether the attack was a hate crime. Anyone with information was urged to contact the sheriff's office, the Sacramento FBI office, or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
