Video: Dramatic View Of Major Storms In 2015 Captured By NASA Satellite
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Floods, typhoons, cyclones, snow storms, hurricanes -- the year 2015 was an eventful year in extreme weather events.
A dramatic video released by NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission takes a look back at one year of storms.
The GPM mission is an international network of satellites that provide global observations of rain and snow, using an advanced system of radars to measure precipitation from space. The goal is to use the data better understand Earth's water and energy cycle and "improve forecasting of extreme events that cause natural hazards and disasters," according NASA.
As the El Niño rains of 2016 begin, witness some of the places where Earth and Mother Nature collided head-on in 2015.
