Fairfield Student Accused Of Threatening Police Officer, Assistant Principal

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) – Fairfield police arrested a Rodriguez High School student Wednesday after he allegedly threatened a police officer and the assistant principal on the campus.

An assistant principal at the school at 5000 Red Top Road in Fairfield called for a police resource officer around 11:50 a.m. while dealing with a disruptive and defiant juvenile, police said.

The adult brother of the student, 18-year-old Robert Smith, of Fairfield, who also is a student at the school, became involved and allegedly threatened to beat up the assistant principal, police said.

The school resource officer tried to calm the situation by escorting Smith to the school office, but Smith allegedly threatened to beat up the officer several times, police said.

Smith tried to escape from the school officer and fell down when the officer pushed him back, but quickly stood up as if he intended to fight, police said.

The officer deployed his Taser stun gun and arrested Smith on suspicion of threatening a peace officer, threatening school staff and resisting or obstructing an officer, police said.

Smith was examined at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield before he was booked into Solano County Jail, police said.

The juvenile student also was arrested for allegedly obstructing or resisting an officer, police said.
