Pouding Surf Destroys Section Of Seawall In Pacifica
PACIFICA (KCBS) -- A large section of a seawall in a Pacifica neighborhood was destroyed early Sunday morning by the pounding surf.
Waves tore through a 20-foot concrete and rebar section of section the decades-old seawall at Ocean Boulevard and Santa Maria Avenue, sending sheets of water onto the street.
"Sounded like an earthquake," said resident Mark Davis. "It was waves crashing in, about three waves, I think, just tore this thing apart."
Public works crews then came in with five dump trucks and placed eight large boulders where the seawall gave way and placed three others at street level.

Several blocks along Ocean Boulevard were closed due to the threat of flooding.
Residents said during high-tide at 5:00 a.m. Sunday the waves were amazing.
"You see that second house right there? Waves hit the top of the house," said resident Leslie Smith.
The National Weather Service had issued a high-surf warning and a coastal flooding advisory over the weekend. Both expired by Monday morning.
