Suspects Use Stun Gun To Steal Beer From Palo Alto 7-Eleven

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Police are looking for suspects in a Wednesday night theft in which two men, one armed with a stun gun, fled with an estimated $40 in beer from a convenience store in Palo Alto.

Around 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery that happened roughly 20 minutes earlier at a 7-Eleven store at 708 Colorado Ave. near Middlefield Road, police said.

An employee was taking a break from his shift outside the store, where he saw four people arrive in a sedan and stop in a nearby parking lot, according to police.

Two male passengers left the vehicle and one of them initiated a conversation with the employee, police said.

The second passenger entered the store and left with two cases of beer as two other employees chased him, according to police.

The three employees continued to pursue the two passengers, who were heading back to the car, police said.

The suspect who had stayed outside the store brandished a weapon similar to a Taser stun gun, which released electricity at the direction of the workers, according to police.

The employees stopped chasing the suspects, who went back inside the car and fled east on Colorado Avenue, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The armed suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s who is about 6 feet tall with a thin build, short black hair and was clean shaven. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.

The shoplifting suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s who stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts and black tennis shoes, according to police.

The suspect car was reported as a black four-door sedan, police said.

The employees could not describe the other two suspects who stayed in the car, according to police.
