Caught On Video: Firefighters Rescue Man From San Leandro Creek

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) – Firefighters rescued a man from a creek in San Leandro early Thursday morning, an Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The man was rescued at 1:48 a.m. from San Leandro Creek in the 1000 block of Bancroft Avenue after being in the water for about 30 minutes, fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

Video: This morning at 1:48AM, Alameda County Fire Department Engine 9 and Truck 9, Paramedics Plus and the San Leandro Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Bancroft Avenue in San Leandro for a report of a man down in the creek. The patient had been in the water for approximately 30 minutes. Station 9 firefighters set up a high pick point off of Truck 9 and extricated the patient from the creek. The patient was then transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries.

Firefighters used an apparatus from the fire truck to extricate the man from the creek. He had suffered moderate injuries and paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment, Knowles said.

Fire officials did not say how the man may have ended up in the creek.
