Accused 'Hefty Heister' Arrested After Chase Caught On Camera

LAKE COUNTY (KPIX 5) – Deputies in Lake County arrested a man suspected of being the serial bank robber dubbed the "Hefty Heister," following a chase that was caught on video.

According to authorities, a man led deputies on a high-speed chase on Highway 20 near Clearlake Oaks on Sunday, hitting speeds up to 80 miles an hour.

The chase ended after a sheriff's deputy ahead of the pursuit deployed a spike strip, deflating the man's tires. Video shows when the man tried to make a run for it, deputies surrounded him. Authorities said the man tossed his gun, got on the ground and surrendered.

Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Wesley Allen Krohn of Antioch. He is accused of robbing several banks across the Bay Area several other locations in Northern California.

Krohn is being held without bail at the jail in Lake County.
