SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Police and fire units responded to a report of a suspicious package in the city’s Financial District Wednesday morning that shut down a busy intersection for about an hour.

The suspicious package is located in the 300 block of Pine Street, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza reported at 10:35 a.m.

The city’s Department of Emergency Management warned residents to avoid Pine Street between Montgomery and Battery streets shortly after 10 a.m.

At about 11:20 a.m., the SFPD’s Public Information Officer Albie Esparza tweeted that the device had been taken by the bomb squad and rendered safe.

The intersection was cleared at around the same time.
