Lines At TSA Check Points Getting Longer; Waits Will Get Worse

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Travelers aren't imagining it - lines are getting longer at TSA check points, and it's only going to get worse as the spring and summer travel seasons ramp up.

A TSA spokesperson says you can blame the longer lines on reduced staffing from federal budget cuts, as well as efforts to fix screening lapses, and a surge of travelers at some airports.

The TSA says it is training 192 new screeners a week to build up staffing by summertime.

Staffing isn't the only issue facing passengers hoping to zip through security lines.  Screenings have been slowed down to increase safety for travelers after failures to identify weapons being taken through check points, the Wall Street Journal reported.
