BART To Offer Rewards For Commuting Outside Morning Rush Hours

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – BART officials this spring will be researching a way to reduce crowding on trains and offering small cash rewards to people who participate in the research.

The research program is being called "BART Perks," and will allow people to earn points for riding BART. The points can be redeemed on PayPal for small cash rewards or used to play for larger prizes.

BART Perks will offer incentives to riders to shift their travel time away from peak morning hours.

The research will occur over a six-month period and involve 25,000 people, according to BART officials.

BART Perks is being offered through BART and the San Francisco County Transportation Authority.
